This report highlights the Inclusive Family Strengthening (IFS) project by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Catholic Sister congregations. This project aimed to improve the wellbeing of children with disabilities and keep them in family care. It enrolled 1,045 children with disabilities, providing access to health and social services, and increased school enrollment.
Social cohesion sessions reduced caregiver stress and stigma, fostering community support. The project also promoted disability rights and created lasting networks for social support and inclusion. By engaging caregivers and influential community leaders in participatory sessions, the project successfully shifted social norms, increased empathy, and encouraged proactive advocacy for disability rights. This holistic approach demonstrated the long-lasting impact of strategic investments in social capital, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for children with disabilities and their families.
