Content Development and Instructional Design Consultancy: Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on INSPIRE Strategies

Care and Protection of Children (CPC) Learning Network at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health is looking for an experienced online instructional design and content development consultant to support the creation of valuable and engaging MOOC course content. Working under the supervision of the co-director and Senior Program Officer/INSPIRE Working Group Coordinator, the consultant will:

  • Provide technical support for the transformation of the course content into digital MOOC format
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Program Officer, Co-Directors and MOOC Steering Committee and all relevant stakeholders to develop course content (for the entirety of the course, which includes 7-8 modules).
  • Design innovative evaluation tools such as quizzes, self-assessment checks, interactive exercises and other relevant assignments to assess the impact of MOOC by measuring participants understanding of the subject matter (e.g. each module will begin with a pre-test that enables participants to monitor check their understanding before commencing with the session, which will then guide participants from analyzing and exploring implementation of the strategy).
  • Produce a series of summary texts with learning objectives and the most important content and conclusions from each module (drawing from INSPIRE publications).
  • Research innovative course delivery mechanisms, based on the materials being taught and the targeted audience.
  • Develop a glossary with technical definitions that may be mentioned in the MOOC.
  • Produce, monitor and update project management and coordination documents, including work plans and budgets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
