M'Lup Russey

M’lup Russey is a Christian, non-governmental local organization in Cambodia. M’lup Russey understands that all children and youth grow up and develop in all areas of life- physically, mentally, emotionally and experimentally- when they receive individualized care as part of a family they call their own. Communities have an important role to play in encouraging, supporting and guiding individual families so that they know how to care for all their members, especially children. M’lup Russey strongly believes in partnering with the government, NGOs and communities. Their mission is to support, nurture and strengthen families in communities so that they have the ability in managing and caring for family members, especially children. Provide services to young people, so that they can live safely in communities and develop as healthy individuals and to promote best practice in alternative care.

M'Lup Russey is a member of Family Care First.

We plan to support transitions in Cambodia. Our approach to supporting residential care centers to transition to family care is individualised according to the situation of the RCCs and the needs of the children who live there. Training in policy, support to change view on institutionalised care over time, support to change the view of Board and donors to ensure ongoing financial support to care for the children through reintegration, vocational training of RCC staff so they have skills for new jobs to see a future for themselves so they don't sabotage the transition, study tours for the directors to see community work, community alternative care and case management in practice, technical advice to social workers in reintegration, mobilisation of community to support children being reintegration; regular meetings with RCC directors, training at various levels and times in the process. How this happens depends entirely on where the RCC is in the process of change.
