The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), at the request of the European Commission, conducted research on national child protection systems in the 28 European Union (EU) Member States. It seeks to understand how national child protection systems work and to identify common challenges and promising practices. This mapping is for Hungary.
In the fall of 2007, Ramsey County Community Human Services (RCCHSD) was one of five sites chosen as recipients of a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Children’s Bureau (USDHHS) for the“Using Comprehensive Family Assessments to Improve Child Welfare Outcomes” project, to develop a model of comprehensive family assessment to be used in child welfare.

La question spécifique de l'entourage familial des enfants placés dans le cadre de la protection de l'enfance apparaît tout particulièrement complexe et intéressante. Dans la plupart des études jusqu'à présent menées, seule la question du rapport aux institutions des parents d'enfants placés est réellement abordée. En revanche, les questions relatives aux trajectoires individuelles des membres de l'entourage familial des enfants placés dans le cadre la protection de l'enfance, à leur vécu et expérience, au de ressenti de leur situation, aux rapports avec leur entourage et réseau social, et enfin à leur besoin de visibilité et de reconnaissance ne sont pas traitées ni analysées, et méritent une attention particulière. C'est pourquoi l'Observatoire National de la Pauvreté et de l'Exclusion Sociale français a commandé une recherche exploratoire sur le sujet, dont les résultats sont ici présentés.
Large scale studies published in the 1990s and early 2000s generally showed that significant educational disparities existed based on orphan status and a child's relationship to the head of the household. Since the data relied on by these studies were collected, the global community has conducted major campaigns to close these gaps, through the Education for All (EFA) and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). This study examined these factors using eight country-years from five sub-Saharan African countries (Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Uganda, and Zimbabwe).
This paper seeks to highlight the resilience‐enhancing potential for vulnerable young people of roles and relationships in the domains of recreation and work. The paper explores its theme through a specific focus on the needs of young people in long‐term care.
