Aldeas Infantiles SOS Costa Rica (SOS Children's Villages Costa Rica)

SOS Children's Villages was founded in 1949 in Imst, Austria and began operations in Costa Rica in 1975. SOS Costa Rica works for the right of children, adolescents and young people to live in affective and protective families. Their efforts are aimed at preventing the loss of family care for children, and when it has been lost, offering alternative care, always working to reintegrate their families and communities whenever possible.

SOS Costa Rica has 3 "villages" located in Santa Ana, Tres Ríos and Limón where they offer a protective family environment for around 300 children, adolescents and young people. Each house in the village hosts about 9 children (without separating biological siblings) and an adult person in charge of them, together with a support team. The villages also offer family strengthening services.
