COVID-19 is quickly changing the context in which children live. Prevention and control measures such as school closures (as announced or implemented in 100 countries) disrupt children’s routine and support structures.

Intercountry adoption and new surrogacy procedures should not be initiated in the first phase of an emergency. Save the Children is calling for states to support a Moratorium on intercountry adoption and emergency surrogacy procedures in relation to Ukraine until the appropriate safeguards can be reinstated. While adoption can provide a safe and loving home for a child that needs a family, it must be regulated to ensure the best possible solution for each and every individual child.

This study examines the psychosocial impact of rural-to-urban migration on youth in China, a fast-urbanizing country with 268 million rural migrant workers and 103 million migrant youth. Using data from 2012 China Family Panel Studies (n = 2084, age 10–15), this study examines psychosocial disparities (depressive symptoms, social relationships, and future aspirations) among youth migrated with parents, youth left behind by migrant parents, and their peers.
