This case study examines the supervision system for the social work workforce in the United Kingdom, highlighting governance arrangements, professional standards, implementation practices, and lessons relevant to strengthening supervision in Ukraine. The publication describes supervision as a legally mandated and reflective practice embedded within employer accountability systems and professional development, rather than solely a performance management mechanism. It outlines the regulatory framework, including the roles of the Department for Education, Social Work England, the British Association of Social Workers, Ofsted, and local authorities, and summarizes expectations for supervision frequency, supervisor qualifications, organizational responsibilities, and continuous professional development. The document also reviews practical supervision tools, leadership development programmes, and quality assurance mechanisms that support reflective practice. Finally, it discusses current implementation challenges, including inconsistent supervision quality and an overemphasis on compliance, and identifies adaptable practices and resources that could inform the development of supportive, reflective supervision systems for Ukraine's social service workforce.
