Early childhood is a critical period of development for all children, and it is particularly important for those with disabilities. Yet many children with disabilities still lack access to the support and services they need—and are entitled to as a fundamental human right.
Approaches to supporting children with disabilities and their families—particularly caregivers—are often developed and delivered through sector-specific lenses, even though their needs cross sectors and disciplines. Too often, services are concentrated within disability-focused organizations or isolated child development settings rather than integrated across the broader systems that serve young children.
An inclusive, multisectoral approach can better support holistic development across the Nurturing Care Framework, enabling more effective and coordinated policies and systems while ultimately improving outcomes for children and their families. As the prevalence of disability worldwide continues to underscore the scale of need, it is essential that disability inclusion becomes a core consideration across all global early childhood development (ECD) efforts and service settings. When disability is intentionally addressed across health, education, family support, and community systems, it strengthens programs in ways that benefit all children, ensuring that early childhood systems are truly equitable and inclusive.
This webinar will unpack effective multisectoral approaches to ECD for children with disabilities and the caregivers who support them, highlight initiatives and resources from partners in the field, and present scalable solutions to implementing partners and governments.
The webinar will include speakers from Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Special Olympics, among others.
