This article documents an emotional reunification in Rwanda where dozens of former child combatants—many of whom had been recruited or raised within armed groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo—are reconnected with their families after undergoing rehabilitation and reintegration support. It highlights the role of Rwanda’s demobilization and reintegration programs, which provide counseling, education, and preparation for civilian life before facilitating these reunions.
