This article examines concerns about the treatment of children in care in Ireland and argues that the State has failed to fully uphold the constitutional rights of children placed in alternative care. It highlights issues including inadequate oversight, instability in placements, and gaps in accountability within the care system, while emphasizing the need for stronger protections, improved services, and greater recognition of children in care as rights-holders entitled to safety, dignity, and appropriate support.
