An estimated 95,000 children in Rwanda are believed to have been orphaned during the genocide of 1994, according to this article from BBC News which tells the stories of some of those children, now adults, who are searching for living family members. Three young men orphaned by the genocide - Oswald, Ibrahim, and Jean Pierre - have formed a group called Hope of Future Family which aims to support fellow orphans of the genocide. Of the isolation and desperation from lack of family, Jean-Pierre remarks "we do not have the support to be able move forward. We do not have the means to live a better life." Says the article, "What they do have is each other, and through their association Hope of Future Family, they have agreed to share everything they have."
