Ukraine Working to Establish International Advisory Group to Strengthen its Child Care and Protection Systems

On 26 April 2024 the International Dialogue on Better Care Reform was held in Kyiv as part of the International Summit of Ministers of Social Policy.

The reform of the child care and protection system is among one of the key reforms recommended by the European Commission to facilitate Ukraine’s European integration.

During her video message, the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, emphasized that the Better Care Reform is not merely 'just another reform.' “It is about creating a better Ukrainian society where every child has a family and warmth. "This means more care and security in our entire society, in the whole country. Therefore, this reform is about all of us. Everything related to children has always been important for Ukraine. And over the years of the invasion, it has become strategic. The same as defense. Not only because, as the saying goes, "children are the future." It is because they are the present," she said.

The Government of Ukraine is currently working on establishing an International Advisory Group to serve as a platform for collaboration, guidance, and ongoing support to strengthen its child care and protection systems.
