My Life Storybook is a child-centered tool developed by children in collaboration with Child in Family Focus - Kenya (CFFK), the Kenya Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, and other relevant stakeholders to help children in care document their history, reflect on their experiences, and strengthen their sense of identity and belonging. The tool is currently being used in CFFK's programs to support reintegration and family strengthening.
It's core purpose is to provide children in care with a safe, engaging, and structured way to document their personal histories, reflect on their past and present experiences, and envision their future. By guiding children through their experiences in an accessible and even “fun” way, the book helps them process difficult moments while recognizing their strengths and individuality.
The document also reflects a broader commitment by government and child protection stakeholders to ensure that children are “seen, heard, and engaged” in decisions that affect their lives. It aligns with national efforts to strengthen child protection systems by incorporating children’s perspectives and promoting their active participation.
