This fact sheet highlights Bosnia and Herzegovina’s latest developments in Deinstitutionalization. In 2014, there were 1,302 children living in institutional care. The recession has been a significant obstacle. Lack of funds has hampered most efforts to transition out of institutional care. In 2015, Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time received funds from the EU specifically aimed at deinstitutionalization.
