This is an inaugural report of the ECOWAS Commission’s Child Rights Information Management System. It provides a regional snapshot, and national overview of the mapping of data and information on the status of child protection in West Africa in 2023. The report compiled against the backdrop of the ECOWAS child rights strategy documents, draws attention to information about the member states child protection efforts, and the identified gaps, and priorities for action. It will also serve as a baseline for assessing over time, the progress of national systems development in terms of child protection legislation, policies and institutional frameworks, human resources, partnerships, services, social mobilisation, resource allocation and utilisation.
