This brief summarizes findings from a workforce capacity assessment examining the knowledge, skills, and competencies of Ukraine's social sector workforce in support of the Strategy on Ensuring Every Child's Right to Grow Up in a Family Environment (2024–2028). Based on an online survey of 2,448 professionals across four regions and complementary focus group discussions, the assessment found that while social workers, child protection specialists, and social protection staff possess strong foundational competencies and actively participate in professional training, significant gaps remain in practical and specialized skills. Priority learning needs include early identification and intervention, disability and inclusion, independent living, digital case management, violence response, and work with military families. The brief recommends standardizing competency-based practical training, integrating digital case management into all learning programmes, expanding disability and inclusion modules, strengthening violence response training, and establishing structured continuous professional development opportunities to improve service quality and support implementation of national child protection reforms.
