The Changing the Way We Care℠ (CTWWC) Life of the Award Report highlights the initiative’s global efforts to promote safe, nurturing family care for children. Since 2018, CTWWC has been driving care reform in countries like Guatemala, Kenya, and Moldova, while supporting smaller projects in Haiti and India.
The initiative focuses on reunifying families, transitioning care services, and influencing national systems of care, with a significant impact on family strengthening and case management. CTWWC's work is grounded in collaboration with governments, communities, and global stakeholders, supported by partners such as Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Maestral International.
Key achievements include developing strategies for family-based care, reducing reliance on institutional care, building local capacities, and creating networks for care leavers and foster families. Despite tackling challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, CTWWC has made measurable progress in shifting public attitudes and strengthening care systems globally.
The initiative’s learning and influence agenda has driven long-term changes, including significant contributions to global reports and advocacy efforts that support family-based care reform worldwide.
