Advancing Bogota Commitments through national budgeting and regional accountability

UNICEF (Eastern and Southern, and West and Central Africa Regional Offices), WHO Africa Regional Office and African Child Policy Forum (ACPF)

Join UNICEF (Eastern and Southern, and West and Central Africa Regional Offices), WHO Africa Regional Office and the African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) for a cross regional webinar spotlighting the urgent need for sustained, strategic financing to deliver on the Bogotá commitments and addressing violence against children.

While many African governments have established robust legal and policy frameworks to prevent and respond to violence against children (VAC), insufficient and inconsistent financing continues to stall progress. This gap was underscored during the Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in Bogota (November 2024), where African governments reaffirm their commitments to protect children and accelerate action through national policies, systems, and resourcing.

As a strategic follow-up to these commitments, this high-level regional webinar seeks to elevate financing for child protection as a political and developmental priority. It will provide a platform to:

  • Showcase national examples of financing reforms and challenges
  • Share economic evidence on the cost of inaction and returns on investments
  • Explore accountability mechanisms to track progress on Bogota Pledges
