Approximately one in ten children around the world live in kinship care. This form of care is both the most widely used and the most valued option for children who cannot be cared for by their parents, but it is often neglected by policymakers and practitioners. This places children at greater risk, risks that may be exacerbated within the impacts of COVID-19. Those developing responses to COVID-19 must prioritise support to these households. Failure to do so will exacerbate the risks that girls and boys face, and lead to poorly targeted and consequently ineffective strategies to prevent and mitigate the effects of the virus.
Join Emily Delap and Gillian Mann from Child Frontiers, and Family for Every Child members Forum on Sustainable Child Empowerment (FSCE), Farm Orphans Support Trust (FOST), and Challenging Heights for this webinar that will explore both the importance of kinship care, and the impact of COVID-19.
The webinar will be held on 28th May, 2020 at 2:00 - 3:30pm UKT
