National Child Protection Consultant (3 nos) for Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States of Nigeria

Purpose of the Consultancy:

Under the guidance of Child Protection Specialist (UASC/Case Management), the national child protection consultant will support the State Ministries responsible for children in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states to strengthen and ensure effective operation of the child protection information management system in these states. 

Main Tasks:

  • Develop and implement an operational plan for strengthening the CPIMS unit and database at state level
  • Work closely with team and update on migration of caseload toward CPIMS+
  • Support data analysis for caseload verification and provide preliminary results of the analysis
  • Work with the consulting firm on the deployment  and roll-out of Primero/CPIM+
  • Develop tools and accompanying training materials for data and information collection, collation, analysis and support the deployment of these tools.
  • Liaise with State ministry and UNICEF implementing partners to fast track the data process (identification of cases and transferring data into CPIMS system).
  • Produce regular update on children (unaccompanied and separated) and who are on risk of violence and prepare State fact sheet and dashboard on monthly basis.
  • Support full operationalization of the CPIMS unit at State level and provide onsite training to ensure inter agency members are fully familiarize with system.
  • Support the State MWASD and MYSCCD (Yobe State) to take on the CPSWG secretariat function

Qualifications or specialized knowledge/experience required:  

Essential

  • University degree in social science, statistics or related field
  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional work experience with Management Information Systems (MIS) and/or M&E systems of which at least 6-12 month in child protection related MIS. 
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills in oral and written English. 

Desirable

  • Experience of designing and delivering training on information management systems
  • Excellent knowledge of the latest tool in the field of information management within social science sector
  • Familiarity with child protection and the systems strengthening approach would be beneficial
  • Experience of working on information management and reporting systems within the public sector
  • Experience of undertaking assessments of management information systems
  • Working knowledge of the local languages

Duration of the contract: 11.5 months
