Background

Palladium is seeking a Team Leader for an upcoming programme to support capacity strengthening of communities and institutions to prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Children (VAC) and to strengthen access to justice for women and children living with violence in Malawi. The programme is expected to run from 2018-2024 and aims to reduce the prevalence of GBV and VAC as well as fully realise women's and children's human rights through national and community-based approaches.

The programme intends to shift harmful gender norms so that Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC)is not tolerated and that survivors have support. The programme hopes to foster non-violent behaviours as well as to improve the accessibility, responsiveness and accountability of the justice system to women and children.

The programme is likely to consist of two coordinated phases. The first phase spans over the years 1-3. Here, VAWC prevention and response approaches in diverse community contexts are tested, adapted and evaluated. The second phase spans over the following 3 years and will roll out those intervention package(s)found to be most effective in reducing and responding to VAWC in Malawian contexts.

Purpose of Position

The Team Leader (TL) is responsible for leading and managing the programme in-country and has programmatic, financial and management responsibility for the project. The Team Leader is a senior representative of Palladium and as such ensures that risks are minimized, company policies, processes and procedures are adhered to and that the project is compliant with donor policies, rules and regulations.

The role will also involve providing strategic programme guidance and representing the programme externally. The TL ensures that project objectives, outcomes and deliverables are met and that financial, operational and reporting requirements of the client are adhered to. The TL works closely with and manages the project team of technical and administrative professionals and other support staff.

The TL is the primary liaison with the client and represents the company with other donors, partners and stakeholders, including the Government of Malawi.
