The UK government has announced a £126 million investment to better support kinship carers through a new pilot program in seven areas of England. The initiative will provide financial allowances similar to those received by foster carers and test more coordinated local support (“Kinship Zones”), aiming to improve stability for around 5,000 children, keep them within family networks, and inform future national policy on supporting kinship families.
