Government to reunite 44,000 children in private orphanages with their families by 2032

The Eastleigh Voice

The Kenyan government has announced a plan to gradually reintegrate about 44,000 children currently living in private orphanages and children’s homes back to their families by 2032, under its 10‑year National Care Reform Strategy. According to Directorate of Children Services (DCS), the transition will be phased and carefully monitored to ensure the children’s safety and proper adjustment into family or community settings rather than simply closing institutions en masse.
