Reintegrating child soldiers in Burundi

Rose Foley - Aljazeera

In this article from Aljazeera, Jean-Pierre shares the story of how he was tricked into fighting as a child soldier in Burundi.  He and hundreds of children who fought as child soldiers are now attempting to reintegrate back into their families and communities.  UNICEF has set up a program to help them adjust.  This program provides the children with clothing and school scholarships.  They are also assigned social workers who regularly visit the children to make sure they are integrating back into society without facing abuse or social exclusion.
