Special Rapporteur Calls on States to Increase Access to Regular Migration Pathways to Prevent Trafficking in Persons

The Human Rights Council held an interactive dialogue on June 28, 2024, with the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children, and concluded an interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

Siobhán Mullally, Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children, presenting her report on trafficking in persons, mixed migration and protection at sea, said that at least 8,500 persons died on migration routes worldwide in 2023, making it the deadliest year on record.
