Tanzania pledges to strengthen alternative care services, effectively manage children’s homes

This article reports how the Tanzanian government has committed to strengthening alternative care services and the management of children’s homes nationwide to ensure they meet required standards and better support child welfare and protection. During a visit to the National Children’s Home in Kikombo, Dodoma, the Deputy Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups highlighted the ministry’s prioritisation of improving education, health, nutrition, counselling, and overall care for children, and assured that the government will support and adequately resource such facilities. She also called for continued collaboration with development partners, civil society, the private sector, and communities to ensure equal development opportunities for all children in Tanzania.
