This article highlights the impact of three recent television documentaries on British television have had on public awareness and understanding of foster care and adoption processes. One of the shows, Channel 4 series “15,000 kids and Counting”, was filmed over two years and depicts the complex and often painful process of decision-making about children being taken into formal care and placed into foster care, pending family reunification or, when that is not in the best interest of the child, adoption.
