Abducting and selling babies in Bangladesh

Syed Tashfin Chowdhury, Aljazeera

Syed Tashfin Chowdhury from Aljazeera reported on stealing and selling newborns from public hospitals in Bangladesh as numbers of stolen babies are on the rise. The article depicts stories of families who have been affected by this trend.  "According to Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum, a Dhaka-based NGO that monitors child rights, at least 16 babies were stolen - double the number from the previous year - and only five were later recovered." Officials said that what drives these abductions is the demand of childless couples.
