Modern Slavery Bill Passes the Parliament

Senator Linda Reynolds, Assistant Minister for Home Affairs

This media release from the office of Australia's Senator Linda Reynolds, Assistant Minister for Home Affairs, announces the passage of the Modern Slavery Bill, which includes a recognition of orphanage trafficking. “The passage of this Bill also means Australia is now the first nation to recognise orphanage trafficking as a form of modern slavery. Reporting entities with activities or supply chains which support orphanages will need to assess and report on any risks relating to modern slavery in these operations.”
