Changing Lives in Our Lifetime: Global Childhood Report 2019

Save the Children

In commemoration of its founding 100 years ago, Save the Children is releasing its third annual Global Childhood Report to celebrate progress for children. The report examines the major reasons why childhood comes to an early end, and finds significantly fewer children suffering ill-health, malnutrition, exclusion from education, child labor, child marriage, early pregnancy and violent death. The report presents data on children's health, malnutrition, school attendance, forced labor, child marriage and pregnancy, violent deaths of children and children impacted by conflict. The report compares findings from those of 2000, outlines 10 factors attributed to improved outcomes for children, and presents case studies from around the world. While children's outcomes have improved greatly over the past two decades, more children today are impacted by conflict and displacement than in 2000, according to the report, and children make up more than half of the world's refugees. The report concludes with recommendations for policymakers to ensure children's wellbeing.
