Our Interview With Practitioner

How you develop your skills as a practitioner?

Apart from learnings on the field, I attend trainings regularly and read books and resources around child protection and rights to keep my knowledge of the sector updated and current.

What are the most important things you’ve learned from this work?

Collective work brings better change. Communities, government and faith structures working together as a nexus brings about sustainable transformation in the life of the children.

Awareness building and sensitization to communities and those working closely with children is very important for project success.

What are the two most helpful resources or tools in your work?

Support from projects by organizations such as CRS.

Government linkages and referrals to schemes and benefits for vulnerable families.

Why you do this work?

Throughout my experience, I have seen children face several issues on a regular basis, and strongly believe that their concerns and their vulnerabilities need to be addressed on priority. Children are the future and I am passionate about creating a better world for them to grow up.

What are the best approaches for supporting families?

The best approach is to keep our work multisectoral - approaches that identify needs in all dimensions affecting children (such as health, education, shelter, protection, psychological, etc.) and try to address each child's problems holistically for the best and sustainable outcomes for the child.
