Manual for Social Workers: Dealing with Child Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation

WHAT:  A comprehensive guide to the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of child victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.  Includes theoretical and practical guidance based on the experiences of practitioners in India.  Contains facilitator modules for leading knowledge and skill building sessions for children, institutional staff and community-based workers.

WHO:  Policy makers, government authorities, institutional care managers, social and community workers, and caregivers involved in the rescue, protection and rehabilitation of child victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation and abuse.

WHERE:  While this manual was created for social workers across India, the experiences and guidance shared is globally relevant.  Adaptation to local context will be required.

WHY:  Provides detailed guidance on the types of services and resources that should be available for child victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation in residential and rehabilitation centers, as well as from community based workers.  It looks at how to address the psychosocial, educational and skill-building needs of child victims of abuse.  It is a useful model for equipping staff, building innovative rehabilitation and reintegration programs, improving institutional administrative strategies, and engaging communities in rescue and prevention.
