GAJOP is a civil society entity, created in 1981, with Special Consultative Status at the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Its institutional mission is to “Defend and promote Human Rights, focusing on Access to Justice and Security, especially the socially vulnerable segments, through Human Rights Education, Social Control and Public Policy Monitoring, aiming at the construction of a society that is dignified, just and democratic. “
For more than 35 years, GAJOP has been acting in the unrestricted defense of human rights, especially for children and adolescents. It is part of the Criminal Justice Network, the Brazilian Platform for Drug Policy and is a signatory of the National Agenda for Derailment. Has a seat in the State Human Rights Council | (MNDH), coordinates the National Association of the Center for the Defense of Children and Adolescents (ANCED), is a member of the Brazilian Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (Abong). Brazilian Platform for Human, Economic, Social, Cultural and Environmental Rights (DHESCA Brazil Platform) and other areas of social control of Public Policies.

What They Do
GAJOP's objectives are:
- To contribute to the realization of the rights to citizen security and social justice;
- To act in the promotion and defense of the Rights of the Child and the Adolescent;
- Collaborate for the construction of a culture of Human Rights that will enable the rootedness in society of the values of the Democratic State of Law;
- Conduct studies and research on human rights;
- Contribute to the preservation of life, physical and psychological integrity, the achievement of freedom and the egalitarian conditions of people;
- Promote training in Human Rights.
