Catalyzing Business Skills is a suite of three financial literacy and business skills curricula developed by Making Cents International and Child Fund's Economic Strengthening to Keep and Reintegrate Children into Families (ESFAM) project in Uganda. They are accompanied by a follow-on coaching guide for parasocial workers to use with caregivers or children and youth at home. Permission to adapt them or use them in non-USAID funded programs must be requested from Making Cents International.
Catalyzing Business Skills for Caregivers aims to build the financial literacy and business knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for adult members of ESFAM savings groups to successfully generate income. Participants are introduced to key financial literacy and enterprising life skills, including managing wants and needs, planning for the household, saving and borrowing, making wise investments, decision-making in the household and expanding opportunities, amongst others.
Catalyzing Business Skills for Youth (ages 14-17) for aims to build the financial literacy and business knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for youth members of ESFAM savings groups to successfully generate income.
Catalyzing Business Skill for Children (ages 10-13) aims to build the financial literacy and business knowledge, skills, and attitudes for children in ESFAM savings groups who are interested in engaging in successful income generation activities.
Follow-on Coaching to Households: Para-Social Workers Guide describes the rationale and steps for providing coaching during home visits by parasocial workers to families, offers exercises related to economic strengthening skills, child protection skills, parenting skills and psychosocial support that parasocial workers can use with the family members in their caseload and provides guidance on developing coaching exercises and assessing coaching skills.
