This page offers a Directory of Organizations working on children’s care issues around the world, at a local, national, regional, and/or global level. The Directory is provided to encourage information sharing and communication between actors working in this sector.

Please note that the inclusion or exclusion of organizations in this Directory does not necessarily entail any judgement or endorsement on the part of BCN or its advisory group on the quality of their programs or services. In line with BCN's Mission, criteria for adding an organization to the Directory include evidence of relevant work in the areas of family strengthening, prevention of separation, alternative care, reintegration and transition from care, care reform, and other relevant areas. We are continuing to expand our directory and welcome suggestions of additional organizations to highlight.

Destination Unknown: Protect Children on the Move

Destination Unknown is an international campaign to protect children on the move led by Terre des Hommes and implemented by campaign members. Destination Unknown operates on the field, raises awareness, advocates for changes and contributes to networks.

Disability Rights International (DRI)

Disability Rights International is dedicated to promoting the human rights and full participation in society of people with disabilities worldwide. Their Worldwide Campaign to End the Institutionalization of Children seeks to draw attention to, and end, the pervasive and abusive practice of institutionalizing children with disabilities.

Displaced Children and Orphans Fund (DCOF) of USAID

USAID's Displaced Children and Orphans Fund (DCOF) provides financial and technical assistance for the care and protection of vulnerable children, particularly those who are separated from their families or are at risk of losing family care and protection. In its implementation of DCOF, USAID has given particular attention to children in institutional care, those affected by war, or those on the street, as well as children with disabilities and other disenfranchised or unaccompanied children.

Division of International Special Education and Services (DISES)

The Division of International Special Education and Services (DISES), a division of the Council for Exceptional Children, promotes knowledge exchange, collaboration, human rights and advocacy to those who provide services for individuals with disabilities.

Early Childhood Development Taskforce

The vision of the Early Childhood Development Taskforce is to ensure that young children with developmental delays or disabilities will achieve their full potential.

ECPAT International

ECPAT is a global network of organisations working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child pornography and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes.

Elevate Children Funders Group

Elevate Children Funders Group is a network of philanthropic organizations committed to advancing philanthropy that supports children and youth facing adversity. Elevate Children Funders Group’s overarching goal is to elevate the importance of investing in children and youth as a primary means of achieving sustainable human, social and economic development, all of which are critical to furthering global human rights, peace and security. Its services include: research and education, convenings and collective action, working groups, and incubation.
