The Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Learning Platform hosted a webinar on June 22, 2022, featuring speakers from UNICEF's head office and the Better Care Network who provided detailed examples on the importance of data in Uganda's care reform processes. This purpose of this webinar was to examine the importance of using data to inform care reform, and how data can be collected and used effectively.

This webinar focused on the themes and recommendations of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child’s Day of General Discussion (DGD) about the rights of children and young people in alternative care and the implications for children and adolescents in Scotland.

The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action is organizing the 2022 Annual Meeting for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action over a virtual platform from the 20th to 22nd of June. This will include discussions dedicated to the theme of the annual meeting: Promoting the Centrality of Children and their Protection in Humanitarian Action through Accountability, Localisation and Working Across Sectors.

The purpose of this outcome document is to provide summaries of plenary sessions and the five working groups that took place during the DGD, and to present a comprehensive set of recommendations on the key themes covered during the preparatory processes leading up to the DGD, including through hundreds of written submissions, a global survey of children and young people with care experience, and during the DGD itself.

UNICEF is hosting a COSP15 Side Event on the topic of “Research and data for advancing the rights of children with disabilities” co-hosted by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and the International Disability Alliance.  

This Certification Training details how the nationally-adopted Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support can enhance work with families through focus on 5 areas of practice: Family Centeredness, Family Strengthening, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Community Strengthening, and Evaluation.  Whether you are program staff setting up a new program or strengthening an existing one, or a funder developing or monitoring programs, the Standards provide a blueprint for implementing best practice. In follow-up surveys at 3 months and 9 months after the Certification Training, more than 91% of respondents indicated that the Standards enhanced their Program's work with families.

The UN Child Rights Committee (CRC) has issued its findings on Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Djibouti, Greece, Iceland, Kiribati, Somalia and Zambia, the States parties that it reviewed during its latest session. The findings contain positive aspects of each country's implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocols, as well as the Committee's main concerns and recommendations.
