Indian Council for Child Welfare, Tamil Nadu is organizing its Second National Conference on Child Abuse for Multidisciplinary Professionals in September 2010. The goal of the conference will be to enhance awareness on the issue, changes and developments in the response to abuse such as the setting up of the Child Welfare Committees and other mechanisms for rescue and rehabilitation of abused children, and above all far more reporting of violence against children. The conference will take place 16-18 September 2010.

The findings of the study underscore the impact of life on the streets on children’s overall subjective wellbeing and the importance of providing life necessities and psychological counseling to these children.

This document contains the minimum standards for placing children in foster care in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Minimum Standards includes service specifications, instruments for monitoring compliance with standards, and guidelines for use of the minimum standards for day centers for children with developmental disabilities. 

Dans le cadre des démarches engagées par le Gouvernement francais depuis quelques années sur la question de la réforme de l’ordonnance du 2 février 1945 relative à l’enfance délinquante, la Défenseure des enfants a eu régulièrement à s’exprimer sur les questions juridiques et humaines posées par la procédure et le droit pénal.La Défenseure des enfants a souhaité débuter une réflexion approfondie sur la situation en France des enfants en conflit avec la loi dans le cadre des différentes prises en charge qui leur sont proposées. 

The Canary Islands were in the spotlight of international media attention in 2006 when more than 30,000 migrants arrived in rickety boats from West Africa. Among them were 928 children who arrived without a parent or care-giver.

This paper is based on The Latin American Report: The situation of children in Latin America without parental care or at risk of losing it. Contexts, causes and responses, which was prepared using reports from 13 countries in the region. The paper gives an overview of the state of one of the most fundamental rights - the right to parental care, a keystone for the right to live in a family and a community.

This report looks at children who enter institutional care because of being without parental care, children with disabilities, child victims of abuse and children in conflict with the law. The aim is to identify key routes through the systems in order to understand the nature of the difficulties that lead children to be placed in institutions and thereby to be able to identify alternative strategies that will better support families and children.
