Over the past two decades of humanitarian work in northern Uganda, national and international child-focused organisations as well as government departments responsible for children have built a rich body of knowledge that has informed child protection work throughout the country. The development of this Child Protection Curriculum and related training materials is therefore a first step by the Ministry of Gender, the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Child Protection Working Group in Uganda, and selected academic institutions to professionalise the child protection sector within the broader realm of social work in Uganda.

The Children Act, Chapter 141 is a Kenyan law that addresses provision for parental responsibility, fostering, adoption, custody, maintenance, guardianship, care and protection of children, among others.

This Law is relating to the rights and the protection of the child in Rwanda.

The Integrated Child Rights Policy is conceived with the objectives of strengthening the thinking and analysis around policies related to children and the coordination and implementation of Government activities for realization of children’s rights.

The following recommendations were made to the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child in relation to children without appropriate care.

This plan is expected to guide effective and coordinated national responses to prevent and/or alleviate vulnerabilities of children in Uganda over the next five years.
